aaaannnndddddd......dodgeball.

oct 26, 2005: we signed up for softball, but had trouble entering a team into the competition... so we turned our attention to a great American institution... a sport I haven't played since Mr Fedeles first screamed "You went, tooooo far"... Year 8 - all of us throwing at one guy (Haas) even though there were two teams... so tonight, the debut of the new Euro RSCG New York Dodgeball Team: "Euro Trash"... first match: we took it 2 games to 1... second match: we went down 3-0... the loss will haunt us... but only when on the court... as like Vegas, what happens in Dodgeball, stays in Dodgeball... though playing without glasses was pretty challenging... couldn't really see the ball until it was almost time to catch it :)

Philip Seymour "Oscar" Hoffman

Oct 25, 2005: Just saw Capote... good stuff... Looks like Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) vs Bill Murray (Broken Flowers) for the Best Actor Oscar at this early stage... Perhaps the dark horse will be David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck)... Definitely won't be Heath Ledger... he has two movies coming out - playing Casanova in one, and an "in the closet" fisherman in the other... weird career path...

Let's spend the night together, wake up & live forever...

Oct 24, 2005: Jamiroquai in NYC... yeah baby... when JK screamed "Hello New York" it made me feel at home... oddly enough... a link to home... having seen the band funk out in Sydney at The Opera House steps, & the Horden... tonight's gig was at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square... twas good for old school fans as the playlist was weighted in the earlier albums... bummer for new fans who didn't hear the current hit "Feels just like it should"... & sorry Adrienne - no Virtual Insanity... a little less dancing from JK than usual, and nowhere near the jumping & moshing that you'd see in Oz or the UK... but worth every penny... yes only $40 erika! too cool...

sept 23, 2005: who knew pumpkins could be so geopolitically poignant... check out bush looking down on saddam... saddam looks happier though...

very yarpie birthday bailey!

Oct 23, 2005: Met for the first time & had brunch with Bailey today - neice & god-daughter of Euro Sydney ECD Dale (the devilishly handsome surfer dude on the left)... yes another yarpie in my life - say hey to mike & sharl & arabella z)... so after commiserating with her for that unusually cruel quirk of fate - dale that is rather than being born south african :) we proceeded to eat some fine Pastis brunch nosh... even some birthday-like sorbet... thankfully after AGAIN stalking me yesterday, Mike Myers didn't interrupt our brunch today... Bailey's here going to college in new york doing a masters in media & film & wants to be a trendspotter... cool... though next we'll be checking out a pony exhibition? ok...

When you're good to mama, and all that jazz...

oct 7, 2005: thanks to fellow Transplant kylie, barbara & I accompanied her & some travelling business aussies (on an experience gathering trip to the US & UK) to see my Dad's favourite musical Chicago live on stage, starring Brooke Shields... our seats were gold... Brooke has aged very, very, very well... while her voice was clearly someone who had been trained to sing vs a natural singer, her dancing, acting & comic timing was superb... 9.5/10... & I was further pleased to arrive home late to find Blue Lagoon on cable... aws...

Paris Saint Germain rules

1/2 Oct, 2005: For some reason I slowed down taking shots towards the end of my travels... however as we watched a great game of football where locals PSG beat Nantes I snapped a few off... Including all the usual football accompaniments: flares (how'd they get them in?), heavily armed riot police... love to the Authntiks - whether "en mode: fusee", "en mode: echarpe", "en mode: 2-Mats" or "en mode: victoire"... Paul is doing well... & why wouldn't he be? exploring his creativity (writing, painting, speaking francais, and being a general nuisance to the french) while living in one of the world's great cities, with a tres cool wife Lorraine (you go girl!)... a quick shout out bonjour also to Helene, Isabelle & of course Hillary who left us here in New York to go back to her emotional home a Paris... no hello's to the mean couple Paul - solidarity brother... hope to see you all soon & be able to understand that beautiful language you all take for granted...
